Costco rumored to be discontinuing sweet treat from food court

 Rumors are spreading that churros will be phased out in the new year

According to social media users, Costco Wholesale is planning to discontinue the churro from its food court menu.

The U.S. According to the Sun, rumors about the change began spreading on Reddit.

"My brother (Costco employee) just told me they're getting rid of the churros in the food court and replacing them with cookies," said one user near the Goleta, California warehouse.

The folded, dough-like cinnamon-sugar treats can currently be purchased at the Club Food Court for $1.49.

Despite the fact that the company has not made any official announcement on the swap, another Reddit user spoke on the thread with inside information.

The user wrote, "It's true. They have found a company to make the cookies, agreements have been finalized. They will appear in early 2024 with chocolate ice cream appearing before summer."


The prospect of losing churro as a dessert option has sparked mixed emotions in the post thread.

"They taste like Chinese cardboard. They should be phased out and replaced with pretzels," one Reddit user wrote.


Some users say the foods won't taste good, others say they taste better than they did before the COVID-19 pandemic or when the store used the former recipe.

Others suggested the retail giant bring back soft pretzels, or other sweet treats.
Costco did not immediately respond to Fox Business' request for comment.
Sam's Club, one of Costco's biggest competitors, offers both pretzels and churros in its café.
