Young ex-Biden supporters 'bailing' on president, agonizing over 2024: 'Could not live with myself'

Biden struggles to maintain support of young voters in hypothetical Trump rematch
According to Monday's NBC News article, young voters are increasingly "supporting Biden."

"Jaden Camarena, in Northern California, is considering a run for president in 2024," NBC reported in a story, "Young voters explain why they're supporting Biden — and whether they'll come back."

NBC reports, "In battleground Wisconsin, Evan McKenzie is looking for a candidate other than the current frontrunners. In Philadelphia, Prue Carmichael isn't convinced about the importance of this race either."

These voters are three examples of people who voted for Biden in 2020 but "now say the president can't count on their support in 2024."

Other young voters told NBC News they feel compelled to no longer support Biden.

“I really couldn't live with myself if I voted for someone who made the decisions Biden has made,” said McKenzie, a 23-year-old resident of Madison, Wisconsin. "I didn't even feel good voting for Biden in 2020," she said.

“It's very complicated, because it almost feels like if I had to cast my vote for Biden, I would show the Democratic Party that what they're offering is enough, which is the minimum in my opinion,” Camarena, 24. The one-year-old boy, who lives outside the Bay Area in California, told NBC.

According to a recent Fox News poll, former President Trump is leading Biden by 13 points among young voters. The polling results come as the Trump campaign is targeting young voters and growing his support among GOP voters.

On Saturday, Trump stopped at the University of New Hampshire and railed against Biden's economy and the migrant crisis at the southern border. According to a report by USA Today, which interviewed Republican and Democratic college students outside the rally, some young voters agreed that Biden's handling of the economy and foreign affairs were important issues in the 2024 election.

Another unhappy voter, Austin Cupp, 25, who lives in Colorado, said Biden has not fulfilled most of his campaign promises.

"I mean, he made a lot of big promises in his campaign and virtually none of them were followed through," Cupp said. "I mean, he could have codified Roe v. Wade, he could have stood up for people's rights all across the country, he could have done a lot of things, but he didn't do that."

Some Democratic Party strategists and pollsters are taking the warnings of disaffected, young Biden voters seriously.

“This is the alarm bell that we need to make sure that not only the Biden campaign, but all the other Democratic activists out there and all the campaigns — state and local — really invest in young people, because we know they How much the outcome could change,” said Ashley Aylward, a researcher at the Democratic polling firm HIT Strategies.
