Abbott: Texas Has Constitutional Right To Defend Its Borders From Invasion, Supersedes All Federal Law

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a defiant statement Wednesday rejecting President Joe Biden's efforts to prevent Texas from securing its borders against the millions of illegal aliens coming to the state because of Biden's reckless border policies.

Abbott's statement comes after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with the Biden administration earlier this week, ruling that it could block razor wire deployed by the state to prevent illegal aliens from crossing the Rio Grande into the state. Can remove or cut.

“President Biden has violated his oath to faithfully execute the immigration laws enacted by Congress,” Abbott said. “Instead of prosecuting immigrants for the federal crime of illegal entry, President Biden has sent his lawyers to federal courts to sue Texas for taking action to secure the border.”

“President Biden has directed his agencies to ignore federal laws that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The effect of this is to allow mass parole of those in the United States illegally," he added: "By wasting taxpayer dollars to tear down Texas' border security infrastructure, President Biden is allowing illegal immigrants access to this state's 28 legal away from entry points. The Southern Border—the bridge where no one drowns—and the dangerous waters of the Rio Grande.”

The governor said more than 6 million illegal aliens have entered through Texas' southern border under the Biden administration, more than the population of 30 US states combined.

Abbott continued:

James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution predicted that states should not be left at the mercy of a chauvinistic president who would do nothing to stop external threats such as the cartels that smuggle millions of illegal immigrants across the border. Does. That's why the Framers included both Article IV, § 4, which promises that the federal government "shall defend each [State] against invasion, ["] and Article I, § 10, section 3, which " Recognizes the sovereign interest of states “in the defense of their borders.” Arizona v. United States, 567 U.S. 387, 419 (2012) (Scalia, J., dissenting).

Abbott said Biden's failures to secure the border "have given rise to the Article I, § 10, section 3, imposed by Article IV, § 4, which reserves the right of self-defense for this state."

He concluded, "For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion to defend and protect Texas' constitutional right under Article I, § 10, Section 3." “That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal law to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are working under that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.
