Alec Baldwin Indicted On Charge Of Involuntary Manslaughter In ‘Rust’ Shooting

Alec Baldwin was indicted by a grand jury on Friday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 2021 shooting on the set of the film “Rust” that left cinematographer Helena Hutchins dead and director Joel Souza injured.

Two special prosecutors, Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis, released a report on Friday stating that the sole cause of the shooting was "pulling the trigger or pressing backward", Baldwin was previously adamant that he did not do so. , Variety reported.

“This fatal event was caused by the hammer being manually pulled fully to the rear and then the trigger being depressed to the rear at some point,” the report concluded. "Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings, and observations reported here, the evidence shows pulling or depressing the trigger sufficiently to release the revolver's fully cocked or retracted hammer Fell.”

Two sources previously told NBC News that New Mexico prosecutors intended to recharge the 65-year-old actor after previously dropping criminal charges against him, citing "new facts."
