Hutchinson continues to argue he needs to stay in the race, while Trump is a "weak candidate"

Longtime GOP presidential candidate Asa Hutchinson argued Sunday that it is important for him to remain in the race to "alert people that we cannot mislead our voters" about the January 6 insurrection, with He also argued that Donald Trump is a "weak candidate."

Trump "has redefined the Republican Party, and not in a good way," Hutchinson said. "What I'm trying to do is draw attention to the fact that Donald Trump is a weak candidate for us in the general election.'' on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Hutchinson said it is "extremely important" that we "not mislead our voters and say that January 6 was somehow a patriotic act. It was an attack on our Capitol (and) the rule of law in Congress."

Trump has used anti-immigrant rhetoric while seeking another term, telling supporters that undocumented immigrants are "poisoning the blood" of the country. When Hutchinson was asked why Trump's comments were resonating with GOP voters, he said it's because there is "incredible concern about the border." But Hutchinson said he would not use such "inflammatory language".

Hutchinson said he would discuss immigration in the context of "what we need to do versus outrageous rhetoric that actually misleads people and hurts people."
