Lauren Boebert Under ‘Active Investigation’ Following Alleged ‘Physical Altercation’ With Ex-Husband: Report

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is under "active investigation" by law enforcement officials in Colorado after an alleged physical altercation with her ex-husband over the weekend.

The Daily Beast reported that an "alleged physical altercation" occurred Saturday at the Miners Claim restaurant in the Boebert district. Sylvester Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed to CBS News that an "active investigation" was already underway.

According to the Washington Post, Boebert's ex-husband, Jason Boebert, called police and claimed he was a "victim of domestic violence" and said the congresswoman had "punched" him in the face several times.

Jason Boebert told The Denver Post that he did not want his wife to be charged, despite calling the police.

"I don't want anything to happen," he said. "He and I were working through a difficult conversation."

The Congresswoman denied allegations that she punched her ex-husband in the face and threatened legal action against those who put forward the claims.

"This is a sad situation for all those involved and another reason I am stepping down," Boebert said in a statement. “I didn't punch Jason in the face and no one was arrested. I will consult with my attorney about the false claims made against me and evaluate all my legal options.

Boebert apologized after being kicked out of a "Beetlejuice" concert at Denver's Buell Theater in September.

Denver Arts & Venues said in a statement that they received three separate complaints that Boebert and her partner were "vaping, singing, causing a disturbance."

The report said the couple were repeatedly warned after Boebert was caught vaping and that they were "causing a disturbance in the area by making noise, singing, [and] using their cell phones."

“Patrons were arguing,” the statement said. The authorities warned them that if this continued, they would be thrown out. They were later told they needed to leave and if they did not, they were trespassing and the police would be called.

A spokesperson for Boebert said that she was not vaping during the performance and that "heavy fog machines and electronic cigarettes were used during the show, so there may have been a 'misunderstanding' from someone sitting near her, " The Washington Post reported.

However, surveillance video from inside the Buell Theater obtained by local media shows otherwise. The footage also shows the two touching each other.
