MSNBC Host Gets Emotional Introducing Former Cop In January 6 Interview

An MSNBC host becomes emotional during a discussion Saturday marking the third anniversary of the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021.

The host, Jonathan Capehart, took out a tissue and asked former D.C. Police officers wept as Michael Fanone was introduced, as shown in a clip published by Mediaite.

“Officer Fanone, I will try to deal with it. Thank you. For what you did three years ago today. Please let me know your thoughts on this third anniversary,” Capehart said.

“We are still in the midst of the same fight that started on January 6, 2021, and we have so much at stake in this country and I think it deserves the attention of every American,” Fanone said in a Started after the break.

Moments earlier, Capehart had talked about how Fanon — who wrote about his experiences in a book called "Hold the Line," which was published last year — joined the crowd at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 "that day." Were struggling with. An unexpected turn of events that briefly disrupted lawmakers' efforts to certify Joe Biden's presidential victory.

“He was dragged down the Capitol steps. Someone from the pro-Trump crowd had teased him. He suffered a heart attack during the fight. And in detail that makes clear the horror that unfolded on January 6, Fanon remembers the rebels yelling, 'Kill him with his own gun,'" Capehart said. "Despite experiencing that terrible attack and living with the consequences of that trauma, Fanon has not stopped defending our democracy."

The host continued, “He has called for those responsible to be held accountable, and he has an important message for the American people as the 2024 presidential campaign season begins. "Ultimately, when it comes to preserving democracy and ensuring the peaceful transfer of power, you, the American voter, will be the last line of defense," Fanon told HuffPost. And this is very serious.

The video of Capehart crying at the top of the interview received some mockery on social media. In response to Mediaite's report, which was titled "MSNBC Host Breaks Out Full-On Sobbing in Emotional Segment with Hero Jan. 6 Cop," Capehart responded, "And I'd do it again!" With a "raised fist" emoji.
