Some of the lake-effect snow gets buried in the Great Lakes

Some cities along the Great Lakes have experienced heavy snowfall as the lake-effect snow machine runs at high speed. More than 2 feet of snowfall was reported on the southern shore of Lake Michigan in northern Indiana. More than 8 inches of snowfall was reported around Cleveland, Ohio. The snow will begin to taper off Saturday, but several more inches of snowfall are expected in some locations.

More than 100 million people faced dangerous cold during the second Arctic blast

Wind chill warnings have been issued from North Dakota to the Gulf Coast and more than 100 million people have been affected in the US due to the second Arctic blast. The impact of the freezing cold is being felt as far south as Florida.

Several atmospheric river type storms are targeting the West Coast during the next few days. This will mean heavy rain in areas along the coast, but also heavy snowfall in the mountains. There is also a risk of flooding, especially along the California coast, through Monday. It would also create a very rainy NFL playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.

One person who recently visited Tennessee was pleased with the snow that fell there this week.
