Kelly Clarkson's weight loss was motivated by being pre-diabetic: 'I was a tiny bit overweight'

 Kelly Clarkson has openly discussed her weight loss, but she recently put her lifestyle changes into perspective during a discussion on her talk show.

Clarkson and her guest, actor Kevin James, congratulated each other and commented on how good the other looked.

"Well, I was told I was pre-[diabetic]," Clarkson admitted. The singer said, "That's basically what happened... I wasn't shocked. I was a little overweight."


"They were like, you're pre-diabetic, you're right on the borderline. I said, 'But I'm not there yet!'," she joked.

“Then I waited for two years,” he said, taking action only after things had progressed. That's when he decided to "do something about it."




Last month, the "Since U Been Gone" singer shared that she was following doctors' advice, which helped her lose a few pounds. "I eat a healthy mix," she told People magazine about her diet. "I lost weight because I listened to my doctor - for a few years I didn't. And 90% of the time I'm really good at it because the protein diet is good for me anyway. I'm a Texas girl. , That's why I like meat – sorry, vegans in the world!”

Now living in New York City, Clarkson is the opposite of sedentary. "Walking around town is quite a workout," she confessed. "And I'm actually in an infrared sauna right now. And I just got a cool dip because everyone else had exhausted me."


With her kids, River Rose, 9, and Remington Alexander, 7, Clarkson says they'll "walk the dogs in the park a few times."

He said of his life in the big city, "We'll go for ice cream because my daughter will tire me out. We'll make slime and go to museums."


After enduring a contentious divorce with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, Clarkson decided to leave Los Angeles and move her family across the country. "I was very unhappy in L.A. and had been for many years. I needed a fresh start," she told the outlet. "We told NBC, 'I'm not trying to be ungrateful, I can't stay here any longer for my mental health, for myself and my children.' They weren't doing well either," he said of the conversation. Network that airs her talk show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
