Musk calls out unfair blue state advantage gained from illegal immigration

Elon Musk resorted to X to tout the advantage blue states have over red states in elections as a result of illegal immigration.

"What most people in America don't know is that the census is based on a simple count of people (including illegals), not just citizens," Musk wrote on Saturday. “This shifts political power and money to the states and congressional districts where the number of illegals is highest.”

The comments come as Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y. highlighted the issue last month, arguing that concerns about too many migrants arriving in New York and filling up shelters have outnumbered staffing in his congressional district.

"I need more people in my district for redistricting purposes," Clark said at the time.

The issue has also attracted the attention of Republican members of Congress, with some even calling for an amendment to the Constitution to apportion congressional districts based on the population of single citizens rather than the count of illegal immigrants. Will need to do.

One such Republican was Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who responded to Musk's post and promoted a resolution he sponsored.

"True. And when they found out, most Americans disagree with the current practice of counting illegals in the census and awarding congressional representation and electoral votes based on illegals," Massey said in response to Musk.

Macy's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

The issue was also raised by Senate Republicans late last month, including Senator Kevin Cramer, R-N.D. He also sponsored legislation called the Equal Representation Act, which he said would "address the inclusion of illegal immigrants in the congressional district count." apportionment and the Electoral College vote; "highlights the possibility of disproportionate political power."

In a press release announcing the legislation, Cramer pointed to an increase in illegal immigration under the Biden administration, citing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data that found that by fiscal year 2023, non- The volume of immigration detentions increased by 30.3%. Last year.

"The Biden administration's refusal to secure the southern border and then allowing illegal immigrants unfettered entry into the United States has far-reaching implications, far beyond what we think on the surface," Cramer said in the release. "The census is the foundation of representation in our political system, and any census that could include non-citizens in the apportionment count is really a matter of concern to me, and it should be illegal for all Northerners. Immigrants and non-citizens cannot vote and should not be used as pawns as Democrats redistrict in different states. Our census should count both Americans and non-Americans, but also differentiate between them. should do."

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

The legislation was also cosponsored by Sens. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., Mike Braun, R-Ind., Katie Britt, R-Ala., Ted Budd, R-N.C., Bill Cassidy, R-Tenn. , R-La., Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, Steve Daines, R-Mont., Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., James Lankford, R-Okla., Mike Lee, R-Utah, Cynthia Lummis, R -Wyo., Roger Marshall, R-Kan., Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., Jim Risch, R-Idaho, Mike Rounds, R-S.D., Eric Schmidt, R-Mo., John Thune, R- S.D. , Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., and J.D. Vance, R-Ohio.

Hagerty, who led the effort, said in a press release that it is "unconscionable that illegal immigrants and non-citizens are counted in congressional district apportionment and our electoral map."

"While people continue to flee Democrat-run cities, desperate Democrats are compensating for the mass exodus with illegal immigrants so they don't lose their seats in Congress or their electoral votes for president, thus artificially are increasing their political power and in turn reducing the power of other Americans' votes," Hagerty said.
