See it: Snow begins to pile up as nor'easter blasts Northeast

After moving across the country over the past few days, the storm is rapidly transforming into a powerful nor'easter as the low pressure system moves away from the mid-Atlantic coast. As far as the Northeast snowstorm is concerned, this will be a fast-moving storm and snowfall will only last about 12 hours, the Fox Forecast Center said.

A driver parking on snow-covered streets in Brooklyn, New York, with his Vermont license plate said it best: "SNO DAY" as the storm moved across the Northeast on Tuesday.

The region is being hit by the first major blizzard in two years, affecting major cities like New York City. As far as Northeast snow storms go, this fast and furious quick-hitter will only last about 12 hours, the Fox Forecast Center said.

In Doylestown, Pennsylvania, visibility was limited to less than half a mile at times as the heaviest layers of snow moved through the area Tuesday morning.
