Taco Bell drive-thru confrontation turns deadly after argument escalates

An Arizona man is dead after an alleged disagreement escalated in a Taco Bell parking lot, police said.

According to the Surprise Police Department, 24-year-old Adrian Garduno fired a gun into the drive-thru line at the taco chain around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Police said the argument escalated and Garuno got out of his vehicle during the drive-thru, pulled out a gun and approached another vehicle.

The 24-year-old man also pointed his gun at the occupants of the other vehicle.

Authorities said another man in the drive-thru line pulled out his weapon and struck Garduno "multiple times."

Police said when they arrived at the scene, Garduno was found and pronounced dead.

The adult male who shot Garduno remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

He was later released without charge.

"We want to remind our community that when a confrontation occurs, it is best to remove yourself from the situation if possible and call the police," police said. "Whether it's in a car, in a public place, or even near your residence, escalating a confrontation can have life-changing consequences. Removing yourself from the conflict could save your life or the lives of your loved ones. "
