RAPE HORROR Barman arrested over rape of Brit tourist, 20, after he ‘followed her to toilet in Italian nightclub’

The British described the alleged attack as "the worst experience of his life".

Police in Italy have arrested a Burman for raping a 20-year-old British tourist.

The arrest comes eight months after the woman said the suspect followed her to the restroom at a Naples nightclub before attacking her.

The 27-year-old suspect allegedly started chatting with the victim while she was drinking at a bar with friends in July last year.

But when she went to relieve herself, he followed her and brutally attacked her, according to local media.

The young Brit described the alleged attack as “the worst experience of my life” and told police at the time: “Suddenly he was on top of me and I saw his trousers down.

"I had no consent at all. I did not give my consent."

After the attack, the traumatized holidaymaker went to hospital and reported the incident to police, who launched an investigation.

Although she returned to England, she cooperated in providing DNA evidence and continued to help police capture her attacker, local media report.

She returned to Italy in December to prosecutor Mariangela Magarillo and deputy prosecutor Raffaello Falcone with further statements and identification.

His persistence bore fruit when police arrested the barman on March 3.

Naples Judge Carla Sarno ordered him under house arrest after prosecutors and the victim's lawyer, Lucila Longone, said there were fears he might try to escape.

Police are continuing to examine CCTV footage and interview witnesses.
