'Sending tremors across this country': Eric Trump defends father against 'legal lawfare' in NY fraud case

Eric Trump criticized his father for not securing the massive half-billion-dollar bond by a Monday deadline in a New York civil fraud case, otherwise he could risk having his Empire State properties seized by state Attorney General Letitia James. .

"It's a legal statute," he said during a discussion with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on Sunday. "This whole thing is crazy. You had a runaway judge who just ruled against something that the Appellate Division has already thrown out 85% of the case for, but that's not the point... "

"They just want to hurt a guy, and they're sending shockwaves across this country."

The Trump Organization's executive vice president discussed the topic on "Sunday Morning Futures" as news of the looming deadline dominated the headlines.

Last week, the former president and current GOP leader said he had stashed away nearly $500 million in cash, indicating he has enough money to post the bond required by a judge.

Meanwhile, his legal team has appealed and requested a stay of his $454 million civil fraud verdict.

Why does the Trump bond crisis seem like a concerted effort to ruin him?

Eric Trump insisted Sunday that those behind the outcome of the case want to "bankrupt" his father and "hurt him bad." He also stressed that the end result would be different from what he expected.

"It's going to backfire because he's going to win it in November and everybody in this country knows what these guys are doing," he said.

Placeholder For the Trump team, the fight is far from over. Their lawyers insist that the massive $454 million bond is "unprecedented for a private company." His legal team also previously confirmed to Fox News Digital that they intended to "exhaust all options."

The decision in Trump's case simultaneously presented concerns from some who want to do business in the Empire State.

"Internationally, people are watching this drama. When they watch it, America is losing its reputation in the world," the younger Trump told Bartiromo on Sunday.

“People from all over the world invest in America because they know that we are safe harbors, that things like this cannot exist and do not exist, and now they are seeing that it exists in the United States Do you know how much harm this causes to our country?"

Trump's lawyer Clifford S. Robert wrote a letter to the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court, arguing that State Attorney General James's efforts are "unconstitutional".

If Trump is unable to secure the bond, Attorney General Letitia James and her staff are prepared to seize his New York properties.
